PSP KYC/KYB headache - anyone got a clean solution?

Seriously, the hoops some payment service providers make you jump through for basic corporate onboarding are ridiculous. We're a legitimate prop shop, not some fly-by-night operation, yet it feels like pulling teeth every time. It's impacting our deal flow. Is there anyone out there who's found a PSP that actually understands institutional clients and doesn't treat KYB like a state secret?

Oil's quiet move and what it means for risk

Morning all. Seeing $BRN just kinda sit around the 1.03 mark today, not a huge swing, but it's interesting given everything else. Seems like the market's just waiting for a new catalyst on the energy front. I'm keeping an eye on how this plays into broader risk appetite, especially with all the noise around inflation still buzzing. If we see a sustained push past that 1.05 level, it could signal some renewed inflationary pressure that the Fed might have to address, and that's definitely going to ripple through everything else. For now, it's a patient watch, no strong conviction in either direction on oil specifically, but the knock-on effects are what I'm focused on for the rest of my watchlist, particularly anything growth-oriented.

Watching European Energy Sector Post-EIA Report

The latest EIA inventory report coming in slightly higher than anticipated has me rethinking some of the more aggressive long positions I was considering in European energy. While $UGAZ is flat at 10.82 today, the broader sentiment around demand, particularly with winter approaching, is still a major factor. I'm keeping an eye on how the utilities and broader industrial sector in Germany and France react to these oil and gas moves, as it could signal broader weakness for the DAX. Not seeing a strong enough reason to jump in just yet, but definitely worth keeping on the watchlist for a potential re-entry if the picture clears up.

Odds of $USLV closing above 14.00 this week?

Given $USLV is currently trading around 13.92 and has been flirting with the 14.00 resistance all day, what are the community's thoughts on the probability of it closing above that level by Friday? I'm leaning towards a 40% chance, considering the daily range has already touched 14.12, but there's been some resistance at the high end.

US Equities and Fed Talk: Rates Holding?

Watching the recent Fed rhetoric closely, seems like the market's pricing in 'higher for longer' more than a quick pivot. This sustained rate environment could continue to pressure growth names. My watchlist is still skewed towards more resilient value plays and dividend payers, maybe even some industrials. How are others navigating this potential extended period of tighter money?

Anyone else struggle with position sizing for higher conviction trades?

Hey everyone,

Been trading for a bit now, mostly focusing on $SPY and a few individual names. I'm finding that my position sizing is pretty consistent on my more 'standard' setups, where I'm just taking a small piece of the move. But then I get these trades I feel really good about, where the confluence of factors is just so strong – great chart, solid news, good sector tailwinds, etc. And that's where I seem to mess up. I either size up too much, get emotional, and get chopped out of what should have been a winner, or I size up a little, it works out, and then I'm kicking myself for not having more capital in it.

I've tried a fixed percentage of capital, but on those high conviction plays, it still feels off. Do any of you have a specific system or mental framework for adjusting position size when you genuinely feel a trade has a significantly higher probability of success than your average setup?

Thoughts on USDCAD Hitting 1.41 by Month-End

Considering the current $USDCAD levels around 1.4065, and the ongoing strength in the USD, I'm giving a 60% probability of seeing 1.41 touched before the month closes. The technical picture suggests continued upward momentum, and with no major Canadian data releases expected to significantly shift the needle, the path of least resistance appears to be higher. A retest of the 1.4020 region on any dip would likely be bought up quickly.

USDZAR range by end of July - a probabilistic view

Alright folks, casting a speculative eye on $USDZAR for month-end July. We're currently sitting around 16.3697. Given the global sentiment leans risk-off and the local Eskom issues showing no signs of miraculously disappearing, I'd put the odds of us seeing 16.80 at 65%. Conversely, the chances of it staying below 16.20 by then feel slim, maybe 20%, unless we get a major shift in commodity prices or some surprise dovish Fed talk.

The volatility's been something to behold, but the underlying narrative for ZAR isn't exactly screaming strength right now. It's not about being a permabear, it's about looking at the fundamentals and market psychology. The remaining 15%? Probably a messy chop between 16.20 and 16.80, but the bias is clearly skewed higher, in my humble opinion.

$ETHUSD - Testing the 1880 barrier, but with a catch

Watching $ETHUSD here, it's making another run at that 1880 area, which has been a pretty stubborn ceiling lately. If we can punch through and hold above that for a decent period, say, a 4-hour close or two, then perhaps we get a shot at the next resistance around 1900-1920. My concern is the previous rejections; a failure to break 1880 convincingly would likely send us back to test 1850 support, or even lower if the general market takes a dip. It’s always a coin toss near these established levels, isn’t it?

Question about scaling into trades vs. single entry

Hey everyone, fairly new here and still getting my feet wet with live trading, mostly micro futures. I'm trying to figure out if it's generally better to use a single entry for a full position size, or to scale in with smaller chunks. I see the appeal of averaging down or building a position as a trend develops, but I'm worried about increased exposure and how it messes with my stop loss placement. How do you guys manage risk sizing when scaling in, especially if the initial entry goes against you?

USD Weakness Post-CPI: Are We Seeing a Broader Shift or Just a Blip?

The latest CPI numbers definitely threw a wrench into some of the narratives I'd been following. Seeing the $USDSEK dip to 9.5052 and $USDMXN at 17.2447 today, both down around 0.4-0.5%, it's making me reconsider some of my longer-term assumptions about dollar strength, especially against some of these risk-on or higher-yield pairs. I know we've seen these kinds of reactions before, where a data point sparks an immediate move, but this feels a little different given the backdrop of continued Fed 'higher for longer' talk versus the market's increasing impatience.

I'm curious if others are seeing this as a more significant shift or just a momentary unwind. I've been watching $ETHUSD for a while too, and while it's up today at 1873.49, I'm trying to connect the dots between a weaker dollar environment and potential flows into assets like crypto. Is this USD weakness sustainable enough to really fuel that narrative, or are we still in a choppy range where one good data print can reverse sentiment quickly? Thinking about adjusting some of my longer-term watchlist ideas and maybe scouting for better entries if this continues.

Scaling into trades and position sizing

Hey all, been trying to get a handle on risk management and one thing I'm struggling with is scaling into positions. I get the concept of adding to a winner or averaging down cautiously, but how do you guys really define your initial position size when you plan to scale?

Let's say I'm looking at $TSLA, expecting a bounce off a key support, but also aware of downside risk to the next level. If I want to end up with X shares total, do I start with 25% of X, then add another 25% if it confirms, leaving 50% for a deeper dip? Or is it more dynamic, based on price action after the first entry? My main concern is balancing capital utilization with not overexposing myself too early.

Specifically, what's your go-to strategy for an initial entry percentage when you fully intend to scale in multiple times? And how do you keep your overall risk, per trade, consistent across these scaling entries without it ballooning?

Watching XAUUSD closely around 2300, a critical test

Been following XAUUSD's movements the past few sessions, and it seems like we're settling into a very interesting test around the 2300 level. It's not just a round number; it coincides with some prior support and resistance zones, making it a critical pivot in my view. If we manage to establish a solid base above this, particularly with sustained volume, it could suggest that the recent dip was merely a healthy retracement before another leg up. However, a decisive break below 2290, especially on a daily close, would seriously question that bullish scenario for me. It could indicate that the bears are regaining control and we might be looking at a deeper correction towards the 2250-2260 area, which acted as pretty strong support earlier. Not putting any trades on yet, just observing how price interacts with this level and waiting for more confirmation. There's a lot of chop, so patience feels key here.

KYC Automation for High-Volume, Low-Value Transactions

Curious how others are handling KYC/KYB for platforms that process a high volume of relatively low-value transactions, particularly in the fintech space. We're finding that the traditional, extensive document verification process creates significant friction and churn at onboarding, yet the regulatory obligations remain stringent.

Are there effective, compliant strategies being employed to streamline this without compromising AML scrutiny? Specifically, looking at solutions that integrate well with existing banking infrastructure, or perhaps leveraging alternative data points more effectively for identity verification. It's a delicate balance between user experience and regulatory burden, and the costs associated with failed onboarding attempts or manual review are adding up. Any insights into third-party providers making real inroads here, or internal process adjustments that have proven successful, would be appreciated. We've explored some solutions, but many feel like they're either overkill or fall short on a specific regulatory nuance.

NFP is lagging, always, and doesn't move my needle much anymore

It feels like we're still overstating NFP's impact. The market's reaction, especially to a miss or beat, often feels more like a pretense for pre-existing momentum than genuine surprise. If you're not front-running the algos, by the time the number drops, the real move is already baked in from broader macro whispers. We saw this dance before the last few releases, barely a blip. I'm more interested in what the reaction to NFP tells us about underlying sentiment than the number itself.

Am I just numb to it? Change my mind.

Watching the bond market for further moves, especially with upcoming CPI

Rates are the big one for me this week, particularly with the CPI print looming. The market seems to be pricing in a sustained higher-for-longer narrative, and while we've seen some consolidation, any surprise on CPI could easily send yields flying again. That would certainly put pressure back on risk assets. Also keeping an eye on $LUNA today, seeing it up 4% at 1.3 after a pretty rough stretch; curious if there's any fundamental shift or just a dead cat bounce. Not touching it, but it's a good canary for broader crypto sentiment if it holds.

DAX, FTSE, and the 'Strength' Narrative

Anyone else finding the current European equity 'resilience' narrative a bit thin when you scratch beneath the surface? We see $EWZ at $36.09, down nearly a percent, and yet there's still this underlying current of optimism about broader European markets.

It feels like a lot of the 'strength' is based on a few sectors, and if those wobble, the whole thing comes unglued quicker than a cheap suit. I'm just not seeing the deep, fundamental reasons for sustained bullishness across the board when global headwinds are still very much a thing. Am I missing something crucial here, or is it just wishful thinking getting spun as fact?

Watching XAUUSD at 1800

I'm keeping a close eye on XAUUSD around the 1800 mark; it's acted as a pretty significant psychological and technical level in the past, and a clear break and hold above it could signal some renewed momentum, though I'd be very cautious if we dip back below 1790 on any significant volume.

Lesson Learned: The Cost of Chasing Green

Morning everyone. I wanted to share a quick lesson learned that bit me hard last year. I had a really solid few weeks trading $SPY puts and calls, picking off decent swings. Felt invincible, you know the drill. Then, instead of sticking to my playbook, I started chasing every little intraday move, convinced I could squeeze out another few dollars. Ended up overtrading like crazy, hitting my daily stop multiple times in a session because I just kept trying to get back to even after a few bad entries. The problem wasn't even the losses themselves as much as the commission and slippage that piled up while I was essentially gambling. My biggest takeaway? Sometimes the best trade is no trade at all, and don't let a good run convince you that every setup is a winner.

USDCAD and the 1.4080 level – thoughts on potential range or breakout

Been watching $USDCAD pretty closely today, and that 1.4080 level seems to be acting like a bit of a magnet, or at least a temporary ceiling. It's been tested a couple of times now, and if we can't break and hold above it with some conviction, I'd expect us to potentially retreat back towards the intraday low around 1.40349. The risk here, of course, is a clear break above 1.4080, which would probably invalidate the range-bound idea and suggest further upside, but for now, it's holding firm.

Watching $ETHUSD and the CPI prints

Anyone else keeping a close eye on the CPI numbers rolling out next week and how they might affect the What will the US CPI (MoM) be for July 2024? markets on Polymarket? I've been thinking about the recent movements in $ETHUSD, currently hovering around 1868.17. It feels like the crypto space has been a bit more sensitive to inflation data lately, especially with the Fed's ongoing hawkish stance. If we see a hotter print than expected, I could see that putting some pressure on risk assets, and by extension, potentially pushing the higher CPI buckets on Polymarket.

On the flip side, if the numbers come in softer, it might give a bit of a tailwind. I'm not placing any bets yet, just watching the consensus forecasts closely and how the early lines develop. It's a tricky one to call right now, but definitely has my attention. Anyone got a strong read on which way it's going?

The peso's stubborn strength: EM headache or opportunity?

Saw $USDMXN hovering around 17.24 again today, barely flinching despite a bit of dollar strength elsewhere. It just keeps defying the usual EM jitters. Makes you wonder if the 'carry trade' narrative is still fully priced in, or if there's something more structural supporting the peso that everyone's overlooking. Definitely keeping it on the watchlist, trying to gauge if a break below 17.20 is a genuine shift or just another dip for the dollar to buy.

Anyone else still wrestling with KYB on the prop firm side?

It's 2024, and I'm still feeling like I'm sending my life story to a black hole every time I try to onboard with a new prop firm, especially those with an international footprint. You'd think with all the tech, this would be a smoother process by now. It's not just the sheer volume of docs, but the constant back-and-forth, the obscure 'we need this specific utility bill from 3 months ago' requests. I get the regulatory burden, completely, but the asymmetry between the slick marketing and the glacial, document-heavy KYB process is just… something else. It feels like they're actively trying to vet out anyone who isn't a digital native or who's moved cities in the last year. Anyone found a firm that's actually streamlined this effectively without compromising on compliance? Or are we all just resigned to the paper chase?

Decentralized KYC/AML solutions – pipe dream or looming necessity for DeFi?
