NFP is lagging, always, and doesn't move my needle much anymore
It feels like we're still overstating NFP's impact. The market's reaction, especially to a miss or beat, often feels more like a pretense for pre-existing momentum than genuine surprise. If you're not front-running the algos, by the time the number drops, the real move is already baked in from broader macro whispers. We saw this dance before the last few releases, barely a blip. I'm more interested in what the reaction to NFP tells us about underlying sentiment than the number itself.
Am I just numb to it? Change my mind.
While NFP might be less of a shocker for immediate, knee-jerk reactions, I'd argue it still contributes to the overall narrative and can solidify trends. "Broader macro whispers" often need a catalyst to really gain traction, and NFP can certainly provide that, even if it's just confirming what many already suspected.
