Prop Firm Payout Friction: KYC/AML Delays & Withdrawal Ceilings

Anyone else hitting consistent walls with prop firm payouts lately? It seems like every time I clear a decent chunk of change, the KYC/AML process suddenly develops amnesia, asking for the same documents they've had on file for months. Then there are the 'staggered' payout policies – amazing how easy it is to fund an account instantly, but trying to withdraw anything over five figures feels like trying to drain an Olympic-sized swimming pool with a coffee stirrer. I get the regulatory side, but the asymmetry in friction between funding and withdrawal is getting tiresome. Makes you wonder if it's deliberate friction to keep capital on their books longer. Is it just me, or has this gotten significantly worse over the last year across the board? I'm not naming names, but I've tried a few of the 'top-tier' ones and it's a recurring theme.

KYB/Onboarding - Prop Firms

Onboarding for larger accounts – anyone hitting a wall?

Been looking at a few different prop firms lately, specifically for accounts above $500k. It feels like once you get past a certain threshold, the onboarding process becomes a real slog with KYC/KYB taking forever and multiple hoops to jump through. Anyone else notice this, or have any insights on which firms handle larger account onboarding more smoothly without the typical two-week wait just to get started?

Onboarding speed and slippage for larger accounts

Curious to hear from others managing larger accounts with prop firms—how are you finding the onboarding KYC process? Specifically, is there a noticeable difference in the speed and friction when you're looking to fund a substantial sum? Also, once through, has anyone experienced significant slippage or widened spreads during high-impact news events with the brokers their prop firm uses, especially on instruments like $EURUSD or $GBPUSD when you're moving meaningful size?

Onboarding Friction with Prop Firms and Payout Times

Starting to look at more prop firms to diversify capital and I'm hitting some friction on the onboarding front with KYC/KYB. Seems like some firms are really streamlined, others are a bit clunky, and then you have the payout reliability concerns. For those actively trading with multiple firms, how much of a factor is the initial setup time and overall operational efficiency in your selection? Specifically, I'm curious about experiences with firms that have robust payout systems for consistent withdrawals and how much you weigh the difference in spreads/commissions against a smoother operational experience.

Anyone else hitting onboarding friction with prop firm payout providers lately?

Been with a couple of the mid-tier prop firms for a while now, primarily trading $EURUSD and some $SPX500. Everything's generally been smooth on the trading side, but I'm starting to see more friction when it comes to the payout process itself. Not so much the prop firms delaying, but the third-party payment processors they use seem to be getting increasingly stringent with KYC/KYB, even for established accounts. It's slowing down withdrawals by several days in some instances. Wondering if this is a widespread issue others are encountering or if I'm just hitting a bad run with a few specific providers. Curious about others' recent experiences regarding payout reliability and onboarding with these third-party services.

Prop Firm Spreads and Execution Quality

Been trading with a few prop firms recently, and I'm consistently noticing wider spreads on major pairs, particularly during higher volatility times, compared to my retail accounts. Not just $EURUSD but even on some indices. It makes scaling in and out, especially with tighter stops, feel like I'm giving away a chunk before the trade even moves. Anyone else seeing this, or is it just the particular firms I've been with?

Secondly, how reliable is the execution speed when taking size? I'm talking about significant slippage on market orders during news events. Trying to figure out if it's systemic across the prop firm model due to their liquidity providers or if I just need to be more selective with who I'm funding through. The difference in effective entry/exit points can quickly erode any edge.

Prop firm payout speed vs. spread concerns

Anyone else noticing a trade-off between prop firms with lightning-fast payout processing and those offering consistently tighter spreads, especially on major pairs like $EURUSD? It feels like the firms that are quick to process withdrawals often have slightly wider spreads or higher commissions, making it tougher to scale smaller scalp trades. Conversely, firms with better execution might drag their feet a bit on payouts. Just wondering if this is a common experience or if I'm missing something in my evaluation criteria.

Also, any thoughts on whether this is a function of the PSPs they use, or more about their own internal treasury management? It's a critical point when evaluating long-term viability with a firm.

Prop Firm Payout Reliability and KYC Friction - Any Recent Woes?

Been looking at a few new prop firm options, specifically those touting high leverage on futures and certain FX pairs like $EURUSD. My main concern, as always, is the actual payout process once a substantial amount is accumulated. We've all heard stories. Beyond the advertised spreads and commission structures, which often look attractive on paper, how are firms handling larger withdrawal requests these days? Is the KYC/KYB process becoming even more of a hurdle, or are things generally smoother for established traders?

Specifically, any recent experiences with firms suddenly tightening up their withdrawal policies or adding layers of verification not initially disclosed? It's one thing to pass a challenge, another to consistently get paid without unnecessary friction or delays that eat into time and capital efficiency. Curious to hear if anyone has encountered new infrastructure-related headaches around liquidity providers or payment processors that impacted their ability to get funds out.

Anyone else finding KYC/onboarding to be a real bottleneck?

Been looking at a few different prop firms lately, and while the trading conditions look decent across the board, I'm consistently hitting walls with the onboarding process. Seems like every firm has a slightly different set of hoops to jump through for KYB, and it's starting to feel like a significant time sink just to get funded. Curious if others are experiencing similar friction, or if I'm just unlucky with the particular firms I've been eyeing. Any tips on navigating this efficiently would be great.

Onboarding speed and platform stability with prop firms - current experiences?

Curious what others are seeing lately regarding the actual onboarding process itself with various prop firms. I've been running into some significant KYC/KYB delays, and then once approved, the platforms often feel a bit 'buggy' or prone to execution issues, especially around volatility. It makes me wonder if some firms are prioritizing rapid expansion over robust infrastructure and reliable broker connections. What are your recent experiences on platform stability and the speed of getting set up and trading? Are specific firms notably better or worse on this front in your recent memory?

Prop Firm Spreads and Execution — Realistic Expectations?

Been trading through various prop firms for a while now, primarily focused on majors and some tech like $TSLA (currently at $375.76). One persistent issue is the spread differential compared to a direct retail broker. On $AUDCAD (0.98049 now), I'm consistently seeing a wider average spread and often slippage during volatility spikes that seems disproportionate.

Are others experiencing this consistently? Is it just the cost of doing business with a prop firm model, reflecting their own prime broker costs, or are some firms genuinely offering tighter spreads and better execution? Trying to figure out if my expectations are off, or if there's a significant variance in the 'broker' side of these firms. Payout reliability is solid with my current firm, but the execution overhead is eating into profitability more than anticipated.

Payout Process - My Experiences

Been with Apex and MyForexFunds for a while now. Apex payouts are usually very smooth, request in the morning, often hits by end of day or next. MFF can be a bit slower, sometimes takes 2-3 business days. Any others experiencing similar variability? Just curious if it's my bank or the firm's processing times.

6

Psychology of the Challenge Phase

Just passed my first challenge with Funded Trading Plus. The mental game during the challenge phase is often underestimated. It's not just about strategy; it's about disciplined risk management under pressure. Anyone have specific routines or mental frameworks they use to stay consistent during the evaluation period?

News Trading Rules - Prop Firms

Quick question: Does your prop firm explicitly forbid or restrict trading around major news events (e.g., NFP, FOMC)? I know some have rules about opening or closing trades within a certain window. Just want to make sure I'm not overlooking any fine print. My current firm doesn't, but I'm looking at others.

Impact of Current Volatility on Challenges

With $ES hovering around 7465.17 and $NDX at 30278.82, volatility has been decent. For those in evaluation, this can be a double-edged sword – more opportunities for moves but also higher risk of hitting drawdown limits quickly. Are people finding it easier or harder to pass challenges in the current market environment? I've noticed my $EURUSD trades have been more susceptible to whipsaws lately.

3

Daily Drawdown vs. Trailing Drawdown Impact

The difference between daily drawdown and trailing drawdown rules is significant, especially for swing traders. Daily is usually reset at end of day, which can offer more flexibility if you manage your exposure correctly intraday. Trailing, however, can eat into your profit cushion from previous days. It's a critical factor when choosing a firm. My strategy for $ES is often based on holding overnight, which makes trailing drawdown firms a bit more challenging to navigate.

8

FTMO Profit Split - 90/10 tier

Finally hit the 90/10 profit split with FTMO. It's a significant psychological hurdle passed. My advice for others aiming for it: consistency over grand slams. Small, disciplined wins compound. Also, understand your instrument's typical daily range – for $EURUSD today at 1.14202, a few pips can make or break a risk management plan.

Thoughts on OneUp Trader's scaling plan?

Their scaling plan seems reasonable, but the initial capital is lower than some competitors. Is it worth the slower scale, or better to go with a firm that offers higher starting capital even if the scaling is more aggressive? Particularly for someone aiming for 6-figure accounts.

4

Scaling Up - When to Add Another Account?

Currently trading one $200k account with FTMO, doing reasonably well. Considering adding a second account, perhaps with a different firm like True Forex Funds to diversify. What are the common considerations before scaling up to multiple prop firm accounts? My main concern is managing drawdowns across separate challenges.
