Daily Drawdown vs. Trailing Drawdown Impact

The difference between daily drawdown and trailing drawdown rules is significant, especially for swing traders. Daily is usually reset at end of day, which can offer more flexibility if you manage your exposure correctly intraday. Trailing, however, can eat into your profit cushion from previous days. It's a critical factor when choosing a firm. My strategy for $ES is often based on holding overnight, which makes trailing drawdown firms a bit more challenging to navigate.

You hit the nail on the head. Trailing drawdown can be a real pain for anyone holding overnight, especially with something as volatile as ES. It really forces you to be more selective with your position sizing and entry points.

Interesting perspective. While trailing drawdown does eat into profits, it can also act as a good risk management tool, preventing traders from getting too comfortable with drawdowns that slowly erode their capital. It really depends on your trading style.
