When a 'sure thing' becomes a 'sure loss'

Back in the day, I had a pretty good run with $SPX futures. Got a bit cocky, saw a setup that just had to work, and decided to double my usual size. The market, naturally, decided to do the exact opposite of what it had to do. It was a rather expensive lesson in humility and position sizing.

Ah, the classic "sure thing" that morphs into a financial life lesson. The market does have a wicked sense of humor when it comes to teaching humility, especially when you've just decided to press the 'all-in' button.

Ah, the classic 'invincible' phase. It's almost a rite of passage for traders, isn't it? The market has a unique way of reminding us who's really in charge, usually right after we start feeling a bit too comfortable.

It's a tough lesson many of us have learned. The market has a way of humbling even the most experienced traders, especially when conviction turns into overconfidence and leads to oversized bets.
