Honestly, it feels like they're trying to talk down inflation without actually having to do another hike. The market seems to be pricing in a very low probability of a move.

Could be, but don't underestimate the potential for a 'buy the rumor, sell the news' reaction. Even a strong NFP might not translate to a sustained breakout above 162 immediately.
