My strategy is to avoid holding through rollover altogether if possible. I'll typically close out any open positions a day or two before and re-evaluate for a fresh entry after the new contract begins.

Yeah, I use NDX CFDs sometimes for tactical hedges against my tech heavy portfolio. Works well for quick downside protection, just keep an eye on margin calls.

I'm with you on the capital efficiency, especially for high-priced stocks. The gamma can be a wild card, but if you're comfortable managing deltas, synthetics often win out for me.

Worthwhile premium is definitely harder to come by, but I've adjusted my strike selection and expiration dates. It's more about consistent, smaller wins now rather than chasing the big payouts, and being very selective with underlying volatility.

I've definitely noticed the discrepancies between brokers on this. My current broker adjusts for funding and dividends, which I prefer. The auto-close/reopen sounds like a nightmare for tax purposes and potential slippage during volatile periods.

Interesting. Are you concerned about implied volatility dropping too much if the market consolidates? That could eat into the back month's value.
