On Polymarket and the 'Smart Money' Fallacy
Been watching the $SPCX market today, hovering around 113.5 after that dip to 108.685 earlier. It's fascinating how quickly sentiment shifts, and people jump to assign 'smart money' status to early movers. But really, is it smart money or just a louder voice, pushing the odds? I think a lot of the initial moves on Polymarket are less about deep insight and more about concentrated liquidity from a few whales trying to set a narrative, rather than reflecting broad, informed consensus.
Take $NZDCAD at 0.81371 or even $USDZAR bumping up to 16.80433 today; you don't see the same kind of dramatic, narrative-driven swings on traditional forex pairs unless there's a clear macro catalyst. Polymarket sometimes feels like it amplifies noise more than it distills signal. Am I completely off base here? Change my mind.
