The Time I Chased the Pump on an Altcoin I Knew Nothing About
Thought I'd share a quick lesson learned from back in the 2021 bull run that still stings a bit. I remember seeing a certain altcoin, let's just call it 'XYZ,' absolutely rip 50% in a couple of hours. My FOMO went through the roof. All the smart money I'd accumulated in $BTC and $ETH suddenly felt too slow.
So, naturally, I dumped a decent chunk into XYZ, no research, no understanding of the project, just pure greed driving the decision. I watched it go up another 10% then crash -30% over the next few hours. My stop loss, if I had set one, would have saved me. But I didn't. I held, convinced it would bounce. It didn't. Eventually sold for a significant loss, purely due to chasing a pump on something I had zero conviction in. The lesson was loud and clear: stick to your plan, and never abandon your process for a quick buck, no matter how shiny the immediate gain looks.
