Onboarding Friction for High-Volume Alternative Payment Aggregators

We're currently expanding our alternative payment offerings, specifically targeting regions with high mobile money adoption. The main sticking point has been the KYB process with some of the larger, more established acquiring banks or direct PSPs. It seems there's a significant disconnect between their standard compliance procedures and the operational realities of aggregating numerous smaller, local payment methods. The documentation requirements often feel ill-suited for the nature of these transactions.

Anyone else experiencing this bottleneck? It feels like the larger players are struggling to adapt their risk frameworks to accommodate the specific nuances of these regional payment ecosystems without imposing an overly burdensome onboarding process. Wondering if smaller, more specialized PSPs are handling this more efficiently, or if it's a systemic issue we just have to navigate.

This resonates with our experience. Have you explored working with smaller, more agile regional banks or fintech partners that might have a better grasp of the unique challenges and operational realities of aggregators in those markets?

It's always the same story with legacy financial institutions trying to adapt to new payment rails. Their existing compliance frameworks often aren't flexible enough for the volume and nature of aggregated micro-transactions, leading to exactly this kind of friction.

That's a tough one. Have you explored any smaller, more agile acquiring banks or fintech-focused PSPs? Sometimes they're more open to understanding the nuances of alternative payment models and adapting their KYB.

Yeah, that's a familiar challenge. Have you found any of the smaller, more agile acquirers to be more adaptable to your operational model, or is it pretty much across the board?

That's an interesting point about KYB for aggregators. I'm new to this, so could you elaborate a bit on what specific 'operational realities' are causing the most friction with traditional compliance? Is it the sheer volume of entities, the type of entities, or something else?
