Anyone else finding prop firm payout process surprisingly clunky?
Been trading with a couple of different prop firms over the last year, and something that's really struck me is the disparity in how they handle payouts. I get that there are KYC/AML requirements, especially for larger sums, but some of the processes feel almost intentionally convoluted. One firm takes a good 5-7 business days after I initiate the request for the funds to even hit their PSP, then another 2-3 days to clear my bank. Others are much faster, like within 24-48 hours end-to-end.
It makes me wonder about their underlying banking relationships and the efficiency of their back-office operations. Are they just using basic SWIFT transfers, or are there more advanced payment rails some firms utilize? Also, the fees can vary wildly. Some deduct a flat fee, others a percentage, and then there's the exchange rate on $EURUSD for example if the payout is in a different base currency. Curious to hear if others have had similar experiences or if anyone has insights into what makes some firms so much smoother than others on the payout front.
Yeah, I've definitely noticed that too. It's frustrating when you meet your targets but then have to wait so long to actually get your funds. I wonder if it's partly due to the banking infrastructure they use or if some just aren't prioritizing efficient payouts as much as they should.
