Lesson Learned: Over-optimizing Polymarket exits
Was watching the $ETH / SEC event market a while back, feeling pretty good about my entry. The odds started consolidating around 80% for 'NO', which I thought was a solid spot to take profit. Instead, I got cute, tried to squeeze out an extra percent or two by setting a sell order just above market. My thinking was that the market would eventually nudge up a bit more before resolution.
Of course, a sudden news byte hit, completely unrelated to $ETH directly, but it spooked the broader crypto market. The odds dipped almost instantly, and my order never filled. Ended up selling for less than I could have originally. Classic case of letting greed override the rational exit. On Polymarket, especially, liquidity can be thin and events unfold quickly. Locking in a good profit is better than chasing the perfect one.
