Kalshi for Macro vs. Micro Events

Been dabbling in Kalshi a bit lately, and I'm finding myself wondering if it's really the right platform for trading macro events. Sure, you can bet on $US30 finishing above 54000, and that might seem appealing, but the liquidity feels spread thin across too many markets. For big picture stuff, traditional options or futures on indices like $US30 are just way more robust and offer better risk management. Where Kalshi seems to shine is on the really granular, often quirky events – things where you actually have an edge from specific knowledge, not just broad market reads.

Am I missing something here, or is trying to use Kalshi for major market moves like trying to hammer a nail with a screwdriver? Change my mind.

I agree, Kalshi seems better suited for more specific, micro-level events where the outcome is clearer and the market less susceptible to the vast complexities of macroeconomics. Liquidity is definitely a concern for the broader bets.

I've had similar thoughts. While Kalshi offers interesting niche markets, the liquidity for broader macro events often leaves something to be desired. For anything beyond very specific, short-term micro predictions, traditional derivatives generally provide a more efficient trading experience.
