Kalshi for Macro Events - A New Angle?
Been following the discussions here on Kalshi, mostly around specific stock movements or crypto prices. I'm curious if anyone's been using it more for broader macro events, like the probability of a rate hike by a certain date, or even election outcomes. The idea of trading on these binary 'yes/no' outcomes with a regulatory framework feels different from traditional options or futures.
For example, if you have a strong conviction on an upcoming Fed decision based on data, is Kalshi offering a competitive way to express that view compared to the more convoluted methods of trading interest rate futures or ETFs? I'm not looking for specific plays, but more on the utility and efficiency for macro-level conviction. The liquidity on some of these macro contracts seems to be growing, but I'm trying to gauge if it's truly enough to make it a serious tool for expressing these high-level views.
I've explored Kalshi for macro, especially the Fed rate hike predictions, and found the liquidity can be a challenge on some of the less-trafficked markets compared to the more popular micro-events. It's an interesting concept, but the bid-ask spreads can eat into potential profits if you're not careful.
