Thoughts on Kalshi's utility for non-event trading?

I'm still wrapping my head around the full utility of Kalshi beyond the obvious 'event' contracts like political outcomes or specific economic data releases. Given the structure, I'm finding myself wondering if there's a genuine edge for a more traditional market participant here. Like, could you even use some of these contracts as a sort of extremely granular, short-term hedge against broader market movements, or is that just overthinking it? It feels like the mechanics are almost too specific for that, pushing folks more towards highly anticipated, single-outcome events. I'm keen to hear if anyone's found a creative way to integrate Kalshi into a strategy that isn't just a pure bet on a headline event. Am I missing something fundamental about how these could fit into a more diversified approach? Push back on this if you think I'm way off.

It's an interesting thought. I've often wondered if trying to hedge with Kalshi contracts is less about financial prudence and more about adding extra steps to one's gambling problem. But hey, if it works, it works.

I've mostly seen it as a way to trade very specific, often binary, outcomes. The hedging angle is interesting, but I struggle to see how it scales beyond tiny positions given the liquidity.
