Lesson Learned: The Cost of Chasing the Move

Been trading for a good few years now, mostly FX pairs like $EURUSD and some commodities. One of the harder lessons I had to internalize was the cost of chasing a move. There have been too many instances where I'd see a strong push, usually after missing the initial entry, and feel that irrational pull to jump in 'before it's too late'. Almost invariably, these were the trades that would reverse just as I entered, leaving me holding the bag and often forcing a stop out at a significant loss. It taught me to respect my own pre-defined levels and not to let FOMO dictate entries.

Completely agree. That fear of missing out (FOMO) is a real killer for discipline, especially when you see a strong trend developing without you.

This resonates so much. It's a classic mistake, and even with experience, that FOMO can be incredibly powerful. Do you find there are certain market conditions or news events that make you more susceptible to chasing a move?
