USDZAR looking for a break post-SARB

The SARB's latest stance certainly didn't offer the hawkish pivot some were anticipating, and that's left $USDZAR clinging to this 16.50-16.60 range. We saw a brief dip yesterday down to 16.4263 but it quickly rebounded. With US CPI on deck next week and the Fed's ongoing balancing act, it feels like this pair is primed for a more decisive move. I'm watching closely for a convincing break either above 16.5725 or below 16.45. It's less about the direct rate differential now and more about global risk sentiment and how that feeds into EM currencies.

Yeah, that SARB non-event really kept things in check, didn't it? I'm wondering if the upcoming US CPI data could be the catalyst everyone's waiting for to finally push it out of this range, or if it'll just reinforce the current consolidation.
