Onboarding for SMB Prop Firms: A necessary evil or just evil?

Anyone else finding the onboarding process with some of these newer prop firms, especially the ones targeting smaller-cap teams or individual traders, to be an absolute minefield? KYC/KYB is one thing, entirely understandable, but it feels like some have a dedicated department for creating hoops to jump through. Between the mismatched documentation requests, the 'just checking in' emails that don't actually advance anything, and the sheer inertia, I'm starting to think they're trying to weed out anyone who isn't pathologically patient. Is this just the cost of doing business with more agile setups, or am I missing some golden ticket to streamlined access?

Totally agree. It feels like some of them are deliberately making it difficult to filter out those who aren't absolutely desperate, which is a bit of a red flag in itself. Makes you wonder if they're testing your patience before you even get to trade.
