How do you guys handle the 'true' odds vs Polymarket's implied odds?

Hey everyone, been dabbling in Polymarket for a bit now, mostly small stakes just to get a feel. One thing I keep wrestling with is the discrepancy between what I think the 'true' probability of an event is, and what Polymarket's implied odds are showing. Sometimes it feels like there's an obvious edge, but then I second-guess myself, wondering if I'm missing some factor the market has already priced in. How do you all reconcile your own analysis with the live market odds? Do you have a rule of thumb for when an edge is 'big enough' to bet on, or when to walk away even if you feel strongly about your take?

This is a classic challenge. Often, the 'obvious' edge you perceive might be a common heuristic bias, or the market could indeed be inefficient. The key is understanding why the market might be wrong and having a well-defined thesis that counters the consensus.

That's a classic dilemma. I usually try to identify if my 'true' odds are based on public information that the market should already have priced in, or if I have some unique insight or a different interpretation of the data. Often, the market is surprisingly efficient, but sometimes there are opportunities if you can articulate why your assessment differs significantly.

Your 'true odds' are often just your bias. The market usually has more information than you do, or at least a better aggregated view. If you consistently think you see an 'obvious edge' against the market, you're probably wrong.

It's always a challenge. The market isn't always right, but assuming you've found an 'obvious' edge often means you're overlooking something. What's your process for determining these 'true' odds?
