Journaling for commodities – what actually sticks?
Hey everyone, been trying to get my head around proper trade journaling for commodities, specifically in the energy sector ($CL_F, $NG_F). I've got the basics down – entry, exit, PnL, the usual suspects. But I find myself often writing generic stuff like 'price hit support' or 'missed my target by a hair'. It's not really helping me identify repeatable patterns or glaring mistakes beyond the obvious.
For those of you who've been at this a while, what are the most impactful things you actually log in your journals that you find makes a difference a few months down the line? I'm not looking for a fancy template, more about the qualitative insights that genuinely help refine your edge. Are you tracking psychological states? Specific market drivers at the time? How do you ensure it's not just becoming busywork?
