On-Chain Metrics: Overhyped or Essential for $ETHUSD?
Been seeing a lot of chatter lately about the diminishing returns of on-chain analysis for day-to-day trading, especially with assets like $ETHUSD. I understand the appeal of diving deep into transaction volumes, unique addresses, or even the flow from exchanges to cold storage. It paints a picture, theoretically, of underlying sentiment and accumulation/distribution.
However, in the current environment, with $ETHUSD trading around 1917.06 (daily range 1911.5477–1924.1412), the price action itself seems to be the most reliable indicator for shorter timeframes. It feels like we've reached a point where the market is efficient enough that most on-chain signals are either priced in too quickly or simply lag what's already visible on a candlestick chart. While long-term investors might still glean insights, for tactical plays, focusing on levels, volume, and momentum seems to yield better results. Am I missing something crucial here, or has the utility of on-chain data for active trading become somewhat exaggerated? Push back if you disagree.
While on-chain data offers valuable long-term insights into accumulation trends and network health, its utility for short-term trading signals has definitely become more nuanced as the market matures. It often feels like the edge has diminished with increased sophistication of market participants.
