Onboarding Friction for High-Volume Crypto Payments – Anyone else seeing this?
Been kicking the tires on a few new PSPs for our crypto payment rails, specifically looking at providers that can handle significant volume for $BTC and $ETH payouts. The tech stack integration itself isn't usually the headache, that's par for the course. What's absolutely killing me is the KYB process.
It feels like every new provider, even those supposedly specializing in crypto, has a KYC/AML team that's still stuck in the Stone Age. Requesting documents already provided, redundant information, endless back-and-forth for entities with multi-layered corporate structures. We're talking weeks, sometimes over a month, just to get through basic onboarding, and that's before we even get to testing live transactions. It's impacting our rollout timelines and frankly, it's just inefficient.
Is this a universal experience right now, or are we just picking the wrong partners? Are there providers out there that have truly streamlined the KYB process for high-volume crypto payment operations without compromising compliance? I'm curious if anyone has found a PSP that actually gets it right on the onboarding side for businesses operating with crypto.
It's definitely a common pain point. Have you explored any providers that offer a more streamlined, perhaps API-driven, KYB process specifically designed for repeat business, or are most still defaulting to traditional bank-like onboarding?
