Onboarding speedbumps for new payment rails – is it just me?
Alright, so we're always looking to optimize our payment flows, right? Particularly with alternative payment methods becoming more mainstream. We recently integrated a new local payment method, something big in a couple of APAC markets we’re expanding into. The setup itself, getting the API calls right, was smooth enough. But the KYB process on the PSP side of things felt like pulling teeth from a very uncooperative badger.
Weeks of back-and-forth on documentation, clarifying the exact same points multiple times, even getting conflicting info from different reps. It's frustrating when you've got a live product waiting to onboard new customers via these rails, and the bottleneck isn't the tech, but the sheer administrative drag. It makes me wonder if I'm just unlucky with this particular provider, or if the increasing regulatory scrutiny is just making every new PSP onboarding a battle. Are others seeing similar friction, especially when venturing into less common payment corridors or with PSPs handling crypto $BTC or local alt-fiat? Curious to hear if anyone's found a PSP that actually makes the initial setup feel less like an inquisition.
