Onboarding speedbumps & payout reliability with prop firms
Been trading with various prop firms for a while now, and a recurring theme, especially as you scale up, is the friction around the operational side. It's not just about the challenge parameters anymore; it's the backend that starts to bite. I'm talking about the initial onboarding/KYB process – some firms feel like they're still in the stone age, taking days for what should be an automated check. This becomes particularly problematic if you're trying to diversify across a few firms.
More critically, the payout reliability and the actual mechanics of receiving funds. There's a noticeable difference between firms that have their act together with clear withdrawal processes and those that seem to invent new hurdles every time. The spreads and commissions, while important, are usually clear upfront. But what's less transparent is how quickly you can actually get your hands on your portion of the profits, or if there are unexpected fees tacked on by their payment processors. Does anyone else find themselves constantly evaluating the infrastructure of a prop firm as much as their trading rules now?
