KYC Evolution: Will AI Finally Make It Smart, or Just More Complex?

It's getting harder to ignore the chatter around AI's potential in KYC/KYB. We've heard about machine learning for years, often leading to more false positives than real improvements, adding to the operational overhead for compliance teams. But with the recent leaps in generative AI and large language models, is there a genuine possibility that we're finally reaching a point where these systems can move beyond simple rule-based checks to truly understand risk context and identify nuanced red flags without requiring an army of analysts to validate every single alert? Or will this just introduce a new layer of black-box complexity and different kinds of compliance challenges with explainability? Interested in hearing from anyone actually implementing these newer solutions beyond just pilot programs.

It's an interesting thought. One has to wonder if AI will streamline KYC or just introduce new, more sophisticated ways for us to explain why we can't open an account from a certain jurisdiction. I'm imagining AI-powered chatbots now, apologetically denying my existence based on some obscure data point.
