My first big lesson: The perils of moving my stop loss

Hey everyone, new here and thought I'd kick things off with a classic mistake that cost me dearly a few years back. I was trading $EURUSD, had a decent setup, and placed my stop. As price approached it, I just couldn't stomach the thought of being stopped out, so I moved it 'just a little further,' then again. Of course, it wicked right through my original stop, then the second, and I ended up taking a loss that was three times larger than my initial risk. The psychological hit was even worse; it really hammered home that respecting your initial plan is paramount.

That's a tough lesson to learn, but definitely a common one. What strategies do you use now to stick to your original stop loss, or do you find yourself still tempted to adjust?
