My costly lesson in chasing breakouts without confirmation
Alright folks, new to the forum here. Figured my intro might as well be a public confessional. It was back in '21, peak crypto euphoria. I was mostly trading equities but got sucked into the $BTC hype train. Saw it break above a significant resistance level, the kind of move that gets everyone talking about 'new paradigms.'
My mistake? I bought the retest without waiting for the actual confirmation that the level would hold as support. My rationale was something along the lines of 'it can't possibly go lower, look at the volume!' Of course, it went lower. Much lower. I ended up cutting a pretty hefty loss, one that wiped out a good chunk of gains from earlier in the year. The hard lesson was hammered home: a retest is just that, a retest. Not a guaranteed bounce. Confirmation is everything, especially when you're jumping into a notoriously volatile asset. My ego took a hit, but my wallet took a bigger one. Never again chasing with such blind faith.
