Lesson Learned: Moving Stops is for Suckers

Alright, new here. Been at this for a while, seen a few market cycles come and go. One hard lesson, burned into my memory, was around moving my stop-loss. Had a decent short on $EURUSD, looking good, then it started grinding against me. Instead of just taking the initial small loss, I kept moving the stop further out, convinced it had to turn around. Ended up taking a full position loss plus some, way beyond what I'd initially risk-managed. It's a classic rookie mistake, thinking you're smarter than the market or your own predefined risk. Just set it and forget it, or accept the hit and re-evaluate.

Relating to this experience, it's a common trap to shift the stop, hoping for a turnaround that rarely materializes once you've started rationalizing the move. Sticking to the initial plan usually saves more capital and emotional distress.

Definitely relate to this. Sticking to the original stop is often the hardest, but most important, rule.
