The Slippery Slope of Moving Stops on EURUSD

Thought I'd share a recent faceplant that's been stewing. Was in a short on $EURUSD, feeling pretty good about the setup. Price came down, looked like it was consolidating before another leg lower. My stop was placed logically above a prior swing high, but as it started to creep back up, I got that familiar itch. "It's just a retest," I told myself, "Give it more room." So, I moved the stop up, just a bit, to give it 'breathing room'. Of course, the market being the market, it took out the original stop, then the new one, and then proceeded to dive in the direction I initially anticipated, just without me. The lesson, again, for probably the tenth time: respect the initial stop loss. It's there for a reason, and moving it is almost always a path to greater pain. My sizing was fine, FOMO wasn't an issue at entry, it was purely a lack of discipline around managing the open position.
