CADUSD - Watching BoC chatter post-CPI

It's interesting to see $CADUSD at 0.71775 today, especially after the latest inflation figures out of Canada. The core CPI was a bit stickier than some anticipated, which could throw a wrench into the BoC's recent dovish leaning. I'm keeping a close eye on any commentary from Macklem or other council members this week. If they start to hint at keeping rates higher for longer, we could see some short-covering, especially against a slightly weaker USD. The 0.71808 day high will be a key level to watch; a decisive break could signal some renewed strength.

Agreed. The core CPI definitely makes things less clear for the BoC. Any shift in their tone this week could lead to a significant move.

I agree, the sticky core CPI definitely complicates the BoC's path. I'm particularly interested in how they'll reconcile that with the broader economic slowdown we're seeing in some sectors. Do you think they'll prioritize inflation control even if it means further stressing the housing market?

Yeah, that stickier core CPI definitely complicates things for the BoC. I'm wondering if they'll try to walk a fine line, acknowledging the inflation but still emphasizing a data-dependent approach to avoid spooking the market too much.
