NZDCAD and the diverging central bank narratives

It's interesting to watch $NZDCAD today, hovering around 0.82108 after a slight dip. The BOC minutes came out a bit more hawkish than some expected, despite recent CAD weakness, which is creating a fascinating divergence against the RBNZ's increasingly dovish signals. While the day's range has been tight, 0.82016–0.82308, the underlying fundamental currents suggest more downside for NZDCAD if this narrative split continues. I'm keeping a close eye on the 0.8200 support level; a clear break could open up significant room, especially if the upcoming Canadian employment numbers reinforce the BOC's slightly firmer stance, or if any further RBNZ commentary dampens rate hike expectations even more. It's not a short I'm taking immediately, but it's high on the watchlist for a potential setup.

Definitely agree on the BOC hawkishness being a bit of a surprise, given the recent data. Curious to see if that actually translates into sustained CAD strength or if the market has already priced a lot of it in.

That's a solid observation. The BoC's hawkish stance, even with CAD weakness, is certainly creating an interesting dynamic against the RBNZ's dovish shift. I'm watching to see if the market starts pricing in this divergence more aggressively beyond the current range.
