Watching CAD after the NZD strength, and USD weakness
Interesting to see $NZDCAD pushing up to 0.8175 on the day. The RBNZ's hawkish stance is definitely giving the Kiwi some legs, but with $USDMXN at 17.4135 and $USDZAR down to 16.60526, it feels like we're seeing some broader USD weakness that might be magnifying the CAD side of that pair. I'm trying to figure out if this is just short-term rate differential noise or if there's a bigger risk-on sentiment shift at play that could see CAD struggling more broadly. What's the read on the CAD side here? Is it mostly USD-driven or is there domestic weakness I'm missing?
It's a fair point on the USD weakness, which is probably a bigger driver than any single central bank's hawkishness right now. But CAD has its own issues; oil isn't always the panacea. Worth considering the broader commodity picture too.
