DAX 18,500 by month-end? Scenarios and Odds

Been watching the DAX closely. We've had a strong run, but the momentum feels like it's starting to waver a bit. My gut says the 18,500 level by month-end is looking like a tough ask. I'd put the probability of hitting it around 35-40%.

The bull case hinges on continued resilient economic data from Germany and the Eurozone, perhaps a softer tone from the ECB that fuels hopes of earlier cuts than currently priced. A strong close for US equities, maybe some upside surprise with $KWEB continuing its current trajectory, could also provide tailwinds, although the direct correlation isn't always ironclad. The liquidity picture is still relatively good, but not explosive.

However, the headwinds are significant. Inflation data remains sticky in parts, and the hawkish commentary from some ECB members suggests they're not eager to declare victory yet. Geopolitical tensions are always a wild card. Also, the market is already pricing in a fair amount of optimism. Any disappointment, even minor, could lead to profit-taking. We've also seen a bit of flight to safety recently; even something like $PYUSD showing minor gains indicates some underlying caution. $SHIB, while speculative, often points to broader risk appetite, and its moves aren't exactly screaming

I can see why you'd feel that way, the recent data has been a mixed bag. I'm curious, what specific economic indicators are you watching most closely that contribute to your 35-40% probability estimate?

Considering the recent economic indicators, 18,500 by month-end for the DAX seems quite ambitious. The softening momentum you mentioned is likely tied to the broader concerns about sustained growth in the Eurozone, which the ECB isn't rushing to alleviate with rate cuts. I'd lean closer to your lower probability estimate.
