Onboarding Friction with Smaller Brokers - KYC vs. KYC

Anyone else finding that some of these smaller, ostensibly 'innovative' brokers have a KYC process that feels like it was designed in the last century? My last attempt to onboard with one was a multi-day email chain for docs that my bank processed in five minutes; makes you wonder about their operational efficiency more broadly.
