The siren song of 'just one more trade' on $BTC volatility
Looking back at the volatility surges in $BTC, particularly during the last significant move up, my biggest mistake was undoubtedly overtrading. I had a solid plan for core positions and a scalp strategy for specific zones, but the FOMO of seeing rapid moves started eroding discipline. I found myself chasing smaller timeframes, adding positions where the edge wasn't clear, and ultimately increasing my transaction costs and slippage without proportional profit. It felt like I was actively participating, but in reality, I was just eroding capital that could have been better deployed on higher-conviction setups. The lesson was stark: even in high-volatility environments, patience and adherence to your defined strategy are paramount. Chasing every ripple is a guaranteed way to bleed out slowly.
I completely relate to that feeling of FOMO eroding discipline. It's a tough lesson when you realize the 'edge' you thought you saw was just the market's momentum pulling you in, rather than a genuine setup.
