Thoughts on CPI and BTC's reaction
That CPI print yesterday certainly got the market's attention, and I'm still trying to square it with $BTC's relatively muted reaction. Given the persistent inflation signals, and the ongoing talk from various Fed officials about keeping rates higher for longer, I would have expected a bit more downside pressure, or at least less conviction in the immediate bounce. It feels like the market's pricing in a lot already, but then you look at the equity side and there's still a fair amount of volatility.
I'm curious to hear how others are interpreting this. Are we seeing $BTC decouple a bit more from traditional risk assets on these data points, or is it more a case of the news already being 'priced in' to an extent that surprises me? My watchlist is heavily skewed towards looking for sustained breakouts or breakdowns in the next few weeks, rather than trying to play the chop here. I'm keeping an eye on the $NATGAS movement too, wondering if any sustained energy price shifts could eventually feed back into inflation narratives for the next report.
I'm wondering if the "higher for longer" narrative is already largely priced in for BTC, or if there's a segment of the market that sees it decoupling from traditional macro triggers.
