Hang Seng Testing Key Resistance: What's Next?
Alright, fellas, been keeping a close eye on the Hang Seng lately. It's been a bit of a grind, but we've seen a pretty decent bounce off the lows over the last few weeks. Right now, it looks like HSI is bumping up against some pretty significant resistance around the 18,700-18,900 level. This zone acted as support earlier in the year before it gave way, and now it's flipping the script.
From a purely technical standpoint, if we can see a decisive close above 18,900 on strong volume, it would suggest that the bulls might finally be getting their act together for a more sustained push higher. However, I'm a bit wary. The market's been a master of the head-fake lately, and a failure to break through this resistance, especially if accompanied by a rejection candlestick, could easily see us retracing back towards the 18,000 mark, or even lower. The key risk, for me, is if we see a quick pop above 18,900 only to immediately reverse and close back below it within a day or two. That would scream a false breakout and likely invite renewed selling pressure. Just my two cents, always could be wrong.
That 18,700-18,900 level has been pretty sticky for a while. Are you seeing any specific volume patterns or divergences that suggest it'll break this time, or just a general retest?
