Thinking about Hang Seng levels around 18000
Been watching the Hang Seng ($HSI) quite closely over the past few weeks. It's really interesting to see how it's behaved around the 18000 mark. It feels like there's been some stubborn resistance or at least significant selling pressure whenever it pushes up to that level, followed by a quick pullback. On the flip side, we've also seen some decent support kick in whenever it dips significantly below it, often bouncing back towards 17800-17900.
The scenario I'm considering is that if we get a sustained break above 18100, especially on decent volume, it might indicate a shift in the short-term sentiment, potentially opening up a move towards the 18500 area. However, that entire idea is invalidated if we see it push up, fail, and then decisively break below 17600. That would suggest the range is still dominant or even breaking down further. Just my two cents, always a lot of moving parts in this market.
I've noticed that too! It's like 18000 is a magnet for selling pressure right now. Do you think it's more about the technical level itself, or are there underlying economic factors in China making investors cautious at that point?
