Onboarding for Asian Market Access: KYC Hurdles

Anyone else finding the KYC process for establishing new trading accounts with APAC-based brokers particularly drawn out lately? I've been trying to onboard with a couple of firms to diversify my exposure beyond $NKY and the back-and-forth on documentation, particularly proof of address and source of funds for non-local entities, feels significantly more stringent than even six months ago. Wondering if it's new regulations or just an internal backlog.

It's interesting you bring this up. I'm just starting to look into APAC markets and was hoping to get set up with a broker soon. Are there any specific regions or types of brokers that seem to have a smoother process, or is it a general challenge across the board right now?

It's not just you. The regulatory environment in APAC has tightened considerably, especially around AML/CFT. They're just covering their backs, but it definitely makes onboarding a headache.
