CFDs on volatile assets – thoughts on stop loss placement?

Been dabbling with CFDs, mostly on $SPX500 but started looking at some crypto pairs like $BTCUSD. With the leverage, I'm finding it hard to pinpoint a reasonable stop loss. On equities, I typically go for a percentage of the daily ATR, but with crypto CFDs, the swings can blow past that so quickly I end up getting stopped out on noise. Then I widen it and give back too much on a real move. For those trading highly volatile CFDs, how do you approach stop loss placement without getting whipsawed constantly or taking huge hits?
