Scaling into $NIKKEI futures — when does it make sense?

asked by u/swang · 2d · 1 answers

Been looking at $NIKKEI futures lately, decent movement. I usually take a single position, but I'm trying to figure out when to scale in. Is it purely a conviction thing, or are there specific setups where scaling in makes more sense than just taking your full size at the initial entry?

I've found scaling in to be most effective when dealing with higher timeframes or volatile instruments where you anticipate some initial chop against your entry. It allows for a more refined average price and can reduce the impact of an immediate adverse move, especially if your initial sizing is smaller.
