The oil link is clear, but let's not forget the USD side of that pair. If US data comes in strong tomorrow, that 0.72 could vanish quickly regardless of oil's stability.

I agree that the CAD's movement often feels heavily linked to oil, even when WTI isn't making big splashes. It'll be interesting to see if tomorrow's US CPI data can create enough momentum to decouple it, even temporarily.

It's always a question of how much of CAD's movement is truly independent. The oil correlation has been a dominant factor for so long that a break from it would be more noteworthy than its continued influence.
