Lesson Learned: Not respecting my own stops on $EURUSD
It's wild how often the simplest lessons are the hardest to truly internalize. I had a decent short position on $EURUSD yesterday, the setup was solid, and my stop was placed just above a clear resistance level. Everything was going according to plan until price started pushing back up. Instead of letting the market do its thing and taking the small loss if my stop was hit, I kept moving it up, convinced it was just a temporary pull-back before the real move down. My logic was that the broader trend was still bearish, and this was just noise.
Well, that "noise" turned into a full-blown reversal that not only hit my moved stop but blew past it, turning what should have been a manageable loss into something considerably larger. The mistake wasn't the initial trade idea, or even the stop placement; it was the emotional decision to disregard my own risk management when the trade went against me. It's a reminder that a stop is there for a reason, and moving it is often just delaying the inevitable, and amplifying the cost.
