Lessons from Frequently Moving Stop Loss

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum. Please allow me to introduce myself and share a lesson that I think might be useful for some, especially beginners. The story is that many years ago, I used to trade $EURUSD during a period when the market was not very volatile, and I had a bad habit of frequently moving my Stop Loss. Especially when I saw the price starting to approach the set point, I would start to hesitate and move it out a bit further, with reasons like 'it will come back' or 'it's just a pullback before going up further'.

The result was that instead of a small loss as planned, it turned into increasingly heavy losses. Sometimes the chart did reverse, but most of the time it tended to continue in the opposite direction of what we hoped. In the end, I had to regret later why I didn't cut the loss from the beginning. The lesson learned is to respect our own trading system and plan. Moving Stop Loss doesn't always help avoid losses, but it actually increases risk and makes us lose trading discipline much more.
