Lessons from EURUSD Before the Ukraine War

I want to share my experience from when the market started getting news about Ukraine two years ago. At that time, I was trading $EURUSD constantly, and because I was too focused on technical analysis, I overlooked the fundamental factors that were starting to emerge: geopolitical tensions. I continued to look for Sell entry points based on RSI divergence and resistance levels that had always been accurate, believing that EUR would have to fall according to technicals. But when Russia actually started to move, everything I had anticipated was wrong. The price surged against every indicator I used.
The lesson I learned was: never overlook macro factors, especially during times when the world is about to shift. Technicals work well in normal markets, but in abnormal situations, fundamental factors and important news will play a more dominant role than anything else. At that time, I suffered significant losses from stubbornly trading against the trend. I tried to adjust on the fly but it was too late. Looking back, it made me understand that trading isn't just about charts, but also about understanding the bigger game.
