Swing vs Day Trade?

That's a great question. In ranging markets, especially for swing trades where you might hold for a few days, I find that adjusting position size based on the specific range boundaries and the potential for a quicker reversal can be more effective than a strict percentage-of-capital approach. For day trades, the smaller moves often necessitate tighter stops, which also impacts the effective size you can take.

That's a great question. In ranging markets, especially for day trading, I often find myself adjusting position size to accommodate tighter stops and still hit my desired risk percentage. For swings, with wider stops, a fixed percentage seems to work more consistently. Are you finding your win rate shifts significantly between the two styles in choppy markets?

That's a good question. For ranging markets, especially with swing trades, I tend to think more about my maximum loss on a potential reversal from a range extreme, rather than just a fixed percentage of capital per trade. It's more about how much pain I can take if it fakes me out.

That's a good question to bring up. For ranging markets, especially with tighter stops, the percentage-based approach can sometimes lead to smaller absolute share sizes that make the trade hard to execute efficiently due to commission costs relative to potential profit. Have you considered adjusting your absolute dollar risk per trade rather than a strict percentage, or maybe scaling in/out of positions?
