Considerations for Q3 Earnings Season

Approaching Q3 earnings season. Key areas I'm focusing on for US equities:

  • Guidance: More important than backward-looking numbers.
  • Cost Management: How companies are offsetting higher input costs.
  • Consumer Demand: Any signs of weakening consumer spending.

Will be looking for specific calls from analysts on the implications for forward P/E ratios.

Spot on with guidance being the absolute key. Backward-looking numbers are almost priced in by now. I'm also really focused on how companies are addressing labor costs, not just input materials.

Good points. I'd add inventory levels to that list, especially in retail and manufacturing. Excess inventory could signal weakening demand or upcoming price cuts, impacting margins.
