Understanding Risk-Reward: It's Not Just a Ratio

Too many new traders fixate on the pure risk-reward ratio, like 'I need 2:1 on every trade.' That's a good start, but it's not the whole picture. A 2:1 setup on $CRV at 0.2264, where your target is 0.2290 and your stop is 0.2250, looks great on paper. The problem? You're ignoring probability. A high risk-reward trade with a low probability of success is a net loser. Conversely, a trade with a lower 1:1 risk-reward but a high probability (think a strong support bounce on a major timeframe) can be far more profitable over time. Don't just chase the biggest ratio; understand the probability of hitting your target relative to your stop. That's the real edge.
