Onboarding Friction for PSPs – What's Your Experience?
Hey everyone, I've been wrestling with some serious onboarding friction recently when trying to integrate with a new payment service provider. It's a fairly standard setup – e-commerce, low-to-medium risk goods, nothing exotic. But the KYB process has been an absolute nightmare. They're asking for documents that seem redundant or entirely irrelevant to our operation, and the back-and-forth with their compliance team is chewing up weeks. We had everything ready on our end, clean financials, clear business model, yet it feels like pulling teeth to get past the initial checks.
I'm curious if this is becoming the norm, or if I just picked a particularly bureaucratic PSP. What are your recent experiences with PSP onboarding, particularly concerning KYB? Are you finding some providers significantly more efficient than others, or is it universally a slog these days due to increased regulatory scrutiny? Any tips on streamlining the process or red flags to look out for in their application forms would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to figure out if my expectations are out of whack or if there's a better way to navigate this.
That sounds really frustrating. I'm new to this, so I haven't gone through a full PSP onboarding yet, but what kind of documents are they asking for that feel redundant? I'm trying to get a sense of what to expect when my time comes.
