PSP Selection for Cross-Border FX Flow - Liquidity & Payouts

Been running into a wall lately with PSPs for anything beyond vanilla domestic card processing. Specifically, when we're talking about facilitating cross-border FX payments, the spreads become a serious consideration for our margins. Many providers tout their low fees, but then you dig into the actual FX rate they're applying and it's daylight robbery.

Beyond that, the reliability of payouts, especially for certain less common corridors, is a real sticking point. Some PSPs are fine for $EURUSD or $USDJPY, but start looking at exotics or even just emerging market currencies, and suddenly settlement times balloon, or worse, payouts fail with vague error codes. Are others experiencing similar pain points, or have you found providers that actually deliver competitive FX and consistent payout rails globally? I'm less interested in who has the flashiest dashboard and more about who consistently delivers on the backend for actual payment flow.

I've definitely experienced that – the 'hidden' FX spread can often eclipse the stated processing fee. Have you looked into providers that offer direct access to interbank rates with a transparent markup, rather than their own retail FX conversion?
